Thread Starter | Re-amp with a direct signal and distorion box?
Can you get good results if you have a direct track with a distorion pedal already tracked, but want that amped pushed air sound? Is it worth it? And if I don't want LOUD, but I wont good tone, what is a good single 12" speak cab with a marshal Plexi combo 50wat with power dimmer (name?)? Can I get good results with a small set up like that or do I need the monstr 4x12 cab? Mic with a SM57. Thanks |

Reamping works for a lot of people. Look at www.reamp.com You can use a single 12" - doesn't have to be a 4x12". Vox extension cab with an Alnico Blue would be nice. Depends on what you are looking for though. I've got a Mesa Theile cab with an EV 12" that has more low end than your average 4 x 12. If by "dimmer" you mean a powersoak, I would try to avoid at all costs. They are tone suckers. I would rather have a 2W tube amp I could run at full tit than a 50W with tone suckers on it. You can get an approximation of the sound by using a convolution reverb with an impulse taken from a mic'd up guitar cab. |

| Buzz MIA1.0
I have just sold a Buzz MIA1.0 to a client for the purpose of re-amping. It can be fed with a signal from a DAW or a desk, which is then in turn input to a guitar amplifier's jack i/p at the correct impedance. I have always ensured that I that I record a totally dry split of the guitar for this very purpose. It used to require a bit of trickery but the MIA1.0 makes the process much easier. |
