Audio cabling with CAT 5?

Greetings-
I'm trying to figure out some home studio cabling options. I've seen several posts, one in particular by Jim Williams, about using Belden 9182 cable for audio purposes. I realized that I have a roll of cat 5 cable that was given to me. It can be seen at the following link:

http://www.commcable.com/commscope_datapipe.htm (It is the "non-Plenum" version)

Can this be used for audio purposes at a master quality studio level? If not, are there some similar alternatives? I'm just trying to see if I can make a "gift" fit a perfect need! I appreciate your advice on this matter.

I forgot... my longest runs would be aprox. 50 ft. to an overdub room. Thanks!

If you wouldn't mind, could you give me a brief summary of what is "solid core", etc.? I just want to be sure that I might have the right stuff. Much appreciated!

Usually the stuff on reels that they have to cut for you is solid core, meaning under each bit of insulation is only one strand of wire.

The multi-strand stuff is usually packaged in pre-cut lengths and preterminated.

It's also usually coiled smaller; solid core Cat-5 is harder to coil tightly.

I appreciate your advice. Are there specific numbers I need to look at in regards to the quality of this wire? i.e. impedance, capacitance, etc.? I know I sound so ignorant of this situation, but I've never had to put focus on cabling a room, and I have a great arsenal of gear for this room and don't want to have it perform any less that what it's capable of. Again, many thanks!
