How about choice c)BOTH

The 300 is easier to program, dial up settings and has some of the proto typical "Lexicon" sound. Also if i was a freelance engineer and was coming to work in your place i can work with it right away cause i know it.

The R-880 has better room sounds and if you spend time with it you can really tailor your choices.

Using the remote though takes time and is not that easy to pick up(i still have to reach for the manual). Also if you have to boot up with the rom 2.0 card and then switch a card with the extra programs which in itself takes time. (Its part of the reason i use the same patch over and over because it takes too much time to figure things out).

They both interact well where one is weaker the other is stronger vice versa.

Neither would be my choice for the hall or plates stuff though.

Its still the 480L and an EMT 140 or 250 for that.

Really the old Gearslut answer...you need both is your choice.

Are you referring to the Lex 300 or the R-880 on the above comments?

R-880.

The Lex stuff is pretty straight ahead in terms of editing patches.

RRC cables

May be a dumb question, but does anyone know a good source for those RRC cables use to connect the controller and R-880?

i'm using 480L and R-880 and i agree with thrill , these units perfectly complement each other, it might sound strange but the Lexi sound is a larger than life and give the feeling that the spaces it emulates are in heaven, creamy big unreal , high in the sky vibe, and the R-880 emulates a more underground dark ,down to earth maybe "urban" spaces, having both colors when you mix just give a great charicter, both are amazing with a very different vibe
