I think Altiverb has a set of impulses of the RMX. That's an alternative.

Perhaps a user can chip in with how they sound.

Gee, original units restored are only about 2,5k these days, and this is the high end section...

I think the Klark reverb (don't ask for a model number) was pretty close to the real AMS - check it out. They're certainly cheaper

As a happy Klark DN780 owner, I can vouch that it's a killer verb. As far as sounding like an AMS, I can get pretty close to the ambience sound with a short fat room. Either way, it's a smokin' verb. They go for around $750 used. Hard to find though...

If you want the AMS RMX16 sound buy a RMX16.

As nice as the 780 it doesn't compare to RMX 16.

Come on, Thrill, you know that D-Verb nails RMX16 perfectly

for what its worth i think d verb is really really useful for something...its definately been the only thing to work at times when i couldnt find another reverb...chosing from the waves, h3000, spx1000 and 480l (when i had it)

David usually has some ready for complete overhaul, so you don't have to worry about reliability.

Yamaha SPX-90, patch 16... tweeze the pre-delay a bit and the "hang time" a bit and the motherfvcker will sound damn near perfect for the RMX-16 "Non-Lin 2" patch [which I belive is the "reverse tube" thing your talking about].

Patch 17 can work too but you need to tweeze it a pretty good measure to get it right... but it can have an even better depth than both patch 16 and the AMS.

Peace.

Finaly, I recived my RMX16 and ... wwwwwooooooooooowwwwwwwww!!!!
It sounds amazing, I bought it from a guy named Sleven Rucci from Hollywood, I think his store is "Technoempire", he's a very honest guy, he sold me an H3000 too, everything is in perfect working condition.

Man, I really love the sound of this beast, my drums will never be the same!!!!

Best regards.
