Name the Pultec

It's a disk cutting equalizer intended to be placed in front of the final cutting amplifier for a non-feedback, cold-stylus cutting head such as were commonly used by radio stations before tape became available. It doesn't have a flat output response so it would be pretty useless other than for that application.

I've owned a pair for years. I use them sometimes when mixing synth basses or on something I need to sound funky/chunky. You might have to have someone look at then though. Most of the one's i've heard these days need lots of attention. Dirty pots and bad contacts.

Sorry Mark, I meant a pair of Moog Parametrics. That Pultec looks like one of their filters, maybe an HF3?

Hmmm, thanks for the info Bob. As usual you rock! Since I've got
basically nothing into this thing I thought it would be something fun to have around. You never know it just might be the next big thing.

I pretty much assume that most of the stuff I'm buying needs attention of some sort. Fortunately I can do most of the easy repair stuff myself which really makes it easy. I was definitely looking for the funky/chunky factor when I bought that puppy.

shouldnt be a problem considering bob moog lives right here... and i visit moog music every now and then, know a few people there.

Hey Alpha,

Back in the day I had the whole collection on stage for my Chapman Stick:Minimoog, Moog Pedals and 3 band parametric. You want that missing octave on keyboard/bass....boom. I have actually been messing around lately with the Peavey Kosmos, trying to get the same bottomn when mixing keyboard/synth bass. I still don't have a technique down, but I will eventually.

shit, they are charging me FULL FREAKIN PRICE for the voyager signature, those bastards. i didnt even get dealer price on it. after all the good things i say about their pedals [which i didnt get for free either, just choice serials. analog delay #666. phaser #999. lp filter #2666. and cp251 #0001]

although i cant believe they licensed to bombfactory. those plugins dont sound ANYTHING like the real deals. in fact, MOTUs multimode filter sounds better than the bombfactory lp filter. such a shame they are dragging bobs name through the mud like that. i even heard about a guy calling up moog to return his pedals after dealing with bombfactory thinking they were one and the same.

How is the PV Kosmos? Is it similar to the dbx 120 Subharmonic Synth or is a totally different thing? I can't find a dealer with one in stock to play with madd

Its similar and at the same time different. They both give you that extra octave down below. Where the Kosmos differs is in the amount and its coloration. What I have noticed though is that it doesn't work great on a mix(it changes it to drastically). I've tried it on individual instruments and on a drum/bass submix. So far its been a hit or miss thing. I think in my last 4 mixes, I just dropped using it all together(also for time sake). The first mix I did with it kinda sucked...no it suck!!!!lol So that kinda turned me off from it. But its just that I need a little bit of time with it. It might turn out that it works better for other things than bass which its designed for.

I have a pultec hlf 3c and a pultec hlf 5C limiter.....does anybody know the difference and which is worth more.
