I've gone for the Smart C2!

Just a quick post to let everyone know who has offered comments and advice on my recent "which mix buss comp" post, I've gone for the C2!

Tried one, its does just what I want, Also spent a bit of time on the phone to Alan Smart himself who is the nicest, most down to earth guy you could wish to meet.

So no more pondering about, Red 3's, Api etc I can now sleep!

Smart Move

I just picked up a Smart C2 Compressor as well and could not be happier. Very smooth and clear sound. Amazing headroom as well.
I got this to round out a void in this type of Fast FET compression in my rack. I have been using the Manley Vari Mu which is still maybe my Favorite Comp/Lim of all time. the Smart C2 is just so different they are not comparable.

Being that it fills a specific void, what is your main use for the C2?

How right are you!!! lol!

Great comp though. its amazing how the smallest amount of compression from the C2 holds the track togther and adds drive to the mix.

I think my next comp will be some kind of vari mu (probably a T.C. Phoenix) just so I have the opposite of what the C2 is. Cover all bases so to speak!
