I installed the tonelux shadowmix system.

I installed the Paul Wolff designed system on the aforesaid API as used by wwittman. The only extra concern we had that Paul completely helped us with was buffering the new fader value impedances to the api 528 modules. We had to procure parts for and build 32 channels of the Wolfe designed and approved fader buffer circuits that reside beneath the motorized fader packs. Powered them off the API rails with no problem. We also had to use an external 5 volt dc supply for the hui midi logic boards. It's a fine bit of kit if I must say so myself. And for what it's worth Paul Wolff and W. Wittman are my heroes as well. I look forward to tipping a pint of good ale with them at some point in the future! Cheers, PH

PS: And Paul W., you were right about the "Secret Hendrix Switch Setting" on pre cbs strats. I heard the extra top harmonics, no joke!

Shouldn't it be possible to have a separate Protools LE system just running the Tonelux faders synced to the main PT system with MTC?
An mbox micro and $300 laptop should be enough as it will run no audio.

What's your RND config

Hi Doug,
The 5088, how do you have it configured? (how many channels, what modules in the penthouse, how many pres, how many eqs, how many comps etc). I know you like those 5 band eqs.

Yeah, I wonder if Jules would let me change my username without loosing my post total -- I"m all about the status

So, my thinking is that I want do all my eqing from the sweet spot. So, I was looking for a console with the most powerful EQs I could find. I've ordered a full penthouse with 14 x 5 band eqs, 8 mic pre/ 3band eqs, two stereo pres, and a stereo comp. Then of course the VU meterbridge. Also ordered 24 channels of Tonelux Shadowmix automation.

How many Line Channels Doug?

How many line channels all together - 32? Looking at some info on the 5088, it appears that all connnections of pre/eq channels to different faders on the console will need to be done via a patchbay. So even though the modules sit in the console, they are normalled to their respective channel faders on the line portion of the console via a patchbay. Is that correct? So having a good scheme for your patchbay is critical to the full and most ergonomic use of this console.

You are correct sir! Normals at the PB are essential with this baby. Yes, 32 line ins are available at mixdown if you use the Group Master ins rtns. I'll probably utilize those for inputs since I'll have 8 sends for other duties.

Paul, what are the chances to get this system to work with P&G faders? I think this is absolutely the most innovative automation I've ever seen, but I really didn't dig the feel of the faders on the consoles you've displayed at the tradeshows. The snap back was inexact, and the tactile sensation felt a little flimsy to me. That was really the only thing that didn't dig, but I was very excited about the functionality. Really great job you did on this thing.

Send a message via Yahoo to JoshRND
The Shadowmix system that we just put on the truck to Doug was P&G Faders.

Sweet! That's great to know. I was not into the ones on the console at AES.
