Does Digi still plan to make a "high end" Control surface? A while back there were rumors that Digi were planning to unveil a "high end" $30k or so control surface for ProTools at the AES show. Haven't heard any talk about that lately. Anybody know anything about this? Thanks.

| there have been rumours off and on ... most of them imagining things ... some of them with a certain degree of reality and truth in them I'm sure. I think it is pretty save to asume that digi is or has been working on a new control surface. Most of us ProControllers hope / think / presume / speculate that it will be something MAJOR. It would make no sence however if they would release such a control surface if it wouldn't be accompagnied by some other minor and major issues in the host soft / hardware itself. I'm thinking more specificaly about things like automatic delay compensation / routing possibilities on the fly / punching on the fly etc etc ... Let's also not forget that digi is part of the Avid group and that in my very humble opinion such a control surface should and probably will focus on post as a very important market of possible future users. just some random thoughts .... that's all

I wouldnt be surprised if it has something to do with Euphonix. Euphonix did the console/controller for Nuendo, and I believe they were trying to do one for Digi too. I think its called the series 5 or something. Just my guess- Mark

The System 5 is a digital large-format console that has been in existance for several years now... Quite a cool board, I might add. --Ben

yes, but they have a model that has been at AES Amsterdam, and NY that had Nuendo directly integrated into it. It was just a control surface, however you can add all the euphonix i/o to it very easily. From what I was told, Digi turned it down fearing it would kill the Pro Control, and Steiny jumped at it. They arent pushing it hard, because they have that ID controller that they have to market. -Mark

If digi is smart, they will do something better than the system 5. It has way too many soft controls and way too confusing an interface.
