| Hey, I asked the same question before I bought my aurora's but in essence the Lynx clock has a better jitter rating than Big Ben. I know this doesen't answer your question but, I called Lynx myself for a more thorough explanation and I would highly reccomend doing the same. Their service is top notch and they will be able to answer any questions you can think of. Good luck

Thread Starter | We also know we can't rely on numbers that a company puts in their spec sheet to determine if the quality is good. Company's dont' have a standardized test sheet that they all follow. I have read many threads where putting a Big Ben through most converters including Lynx Auroa's make it sound better. |

When you are taking about a clock you are only talking about jitter. Jitter can be measured. The only function of an external word clock is to reduce system jitter. What if you synced to an external word clock and it measured more jitter but sounded "better" to your ears? Would you use it or check you ears, accept that you are hearing it wrong and learn to live with science? Or would you choose to record with more jitter? I'm totally, 100%, fully and completely with Dan Lavry on this issue. A properly designed internal clock (yes that means the Aurora) will produce less jitter than any external clock. Dan should know, I mean he tests em' all day everyday. I'm also with him that our ears can decieve us and in some cases more jitter will sound "better" to certain people. Those people who have driven to work everyday for 15 years listening to a completely distorted car stereo. It might sound great to them but it doesn't mean the jitter is lower. I know my ears can be decieving to me. I'll hear something new in the same peice of music I've listened to 100 times on the same system. It will sound different when I'm in a bad mood, or a good mood. I would suggest you find out if it actually will reduce your converters jitter. I'm of the same opinion of the guy who first replied to you. | |
