Rack Space above below AD16x DA16x

Since converters typically get hot. I've been running a rack space above and below the AD16x and DA16x, and end up taking up 5 rack spaces for a 2 rack units... Starting to think it's over kill. What are you guys running... thx, Neil

It depends on the temp of your studio and what you are racking above and below them, but IMHO I don't think they really need it--the apogee converters are not like the all discrete pieces that put off massive amounts of heat. FWIW, I leave one free space above (just to be safe) and have a relatively cool running (non-Class A) piece racked directly below my DA16X.

My AD-16X sits on the bottom of a shelf type rack with no air gaps through the shelf (long story) and nothing below it and my DA-16X sits above it with one rack space between them, no heat problems so far but I have not been running the DA-16X so I guess we will see when I really start using it.

If the unit directly below the bottom converter does not put out a bunch of heat I think you would be fine with something directly underneath it.
