Thread Starter | Manley Varimu vs. Pendulum ES8
I have the Varimu. But have been reading about the ES8 (Michael Brauer and others). Is the ES8 much different than the Manley? Thanks, Woods |

Yes, they're very different. The Manley is much more colored, has a "thicker" sound, and is a recognizable sound everybody's heard. The ES-8 is lighter, more natural, more neutral, in general.

It's great for tracking, very transparent, ime, somewhat like the Cranesong STC-8, with a slightly softer release (no, I don't know what I mean by that). It's softer in some way. I sold mine and kept the Cranesong, though, as I felt it was a little better all around for the wide variety of music I record and mix. The STC-8 is also great for tracking, imo.
