The need to lock up to tape is all but a memory these days. There is the occassional need to lock to beta machines for post work. However, it seems like the primary purpose for this piece nowadays is for it's VSO capabilities. I don't know of any other unit that can do this with PT.
Do any other units allow for this function?

If so, does that mean PT would also recognize an AD-16X for the same VSO purposes?

accuracy

The SYNC I/O is factory calibrated to +/- 5ppm, and will indicate if the clock signal is not within .02% of the specified sample rate (I've never seen ours indicate a problem).

in order to get PT to respond to LTC, BB, pull-up and pull down, etc, you need a Sync IO.

if you don't do that, you can use the Big Ben to clock your 192.

the original poster asked about where it stands quality-wise as a clock ... it certainly is an imporvement .. but you may want to test it against a Big Ben ... or BETTER YET, the ISOCHRONE

as far as needing to lock up to machines ... i have to transfer from DA88's all the time in the DVD work i get ... so i need it for that ...

i do have an Aardsync II but have not really noticed much difference from the sync I/O clock ...

i was under the impression that if you externally clock the sync I/O PLL that it would not make to much difference but have read that pepps have good results using the big ben ....

is this a measureable thing or just an ear thing ... ???

thank you for responding

john
