I feel absolutely depressed. Believe or not but almost every piece of my gear has been mentioned in the first four pages of this thread and there are already 18. I am so sad I could not continue reading. What shall I do? Selling all my gear? ![]() Nobody will want to buy Genelec’s 1031. Well, perhaps I could sell them to Avatar Studios as spare parts because they have 1031’s. And my two U87? I thought of Abbey Road. They are dumber than I am as they have purchased 39 . Maybe they will accept two more... The rest: Neumann (14) including a couple of M149, AKG (9), TG Electronic 4000, Lexicon (2), Millennia HV-3D, Focusrite Red, Avalon 737, etc, etc, etc.) I'll throw it away. Fortunately I have not bought an U67 or a C12. Herebelow the list of suspects (in parentheses the number of times they have been mentioned in the first four pages): TLM 103 (8) K184 (3) KS 105 BLUE Blueberry Drawner 1960 PND Portico Preamp TC Finalizer Focusride RED (7) Monster cables 2 U87 2 U67 M149 KM184 AKG 414 (6) they all suck AKG 460 AKG anything Genelec anything Soundstrack anything Drawner anything TC Electronic anything everything newer than 50's tube gear Pro Tools 192 (4) Neumann TLM New Neumans (3) UA re-issues Avalon 737 5 Avalon 747 Avalon 2022 Avalon 2044 Focusrite 2 Manley Elop Drawner Harrison Mackie Distressors 2 Sony C-800G Portico Pre Pedulumn ES-8 Cranesong STC-8 DW Fearn VT-1 Daking Summit DCL-200 DBX 160SL Manley Gold Adam Royer 121/122 Millennia 2 Apogee Rosetta Dynaudio A-design MP-2 Manlet Vovox TC Electrinic reverbs Genelec 1031 (3) UA 1176 Sondelux Rode Royer Vintech X73 Sondelux E47 Triaxis Yamaha NS10 Blue Bottle LA 610 AT LDC's Damn there is almost every kind of gear out there made mentioned on this thread.....shit if we all took this serious we would have an end to music (cmbsounds)

U87 - I actually don't hate these, just have never been blown away by them. I don't know if you consider these high end but Soundcraft consoles....Hated the DC2000 (they're discontinued now), and I wasn't too thrilled with the MH4 when I got to mess with it for a few months. TC Finalizers. |

Believe me when I tell you that if you did a shootout between the waves CLA2a and the DCL you wouldn't be able to hear the difference. And if you "can" you're lying!

ALL AVALON PROCESSORS - way overpriced pretty crappy GT ELECTRONICS BASS TUBE PRE - mine is worn out want marcus miller bass pre TL AUDIO - EVERYTHING - i unfortunately bought a compressor / mic pre which has turned out to be the biggest POS ever. Compressor plugins are better than this shit. FOCUSRITE LIQUID 4 PRE - yeah all those emulations and you know what all 42 of them SOUND EXACTLY THE SAME! It's focusrite they are marketing towards the "lower end" consumer their stuff is terrible Luckily i sold this POS right away. Emulations are totally worthless. Great idea but in practice the liquid 4 pre is crap. A DESIGNS PACIFICA - for some reason just didn't like this one ALL VINTECH PROCESSORS (AT LEAST THE PRE's) - again probably in the minority but vintech is dissapointing the dual channel pre boy it sure is ugly and i was coerced into buying it. KNOW YOUR GEAR and DON'T GET SCREWED! |

I don't get people dissing on Distressors. Besides using them on snare and kick, I like distressors with neve 1081 and u87 on certain female vocals, especially the ones with vary variable dynamic range, going from really soft into full on belting. Nuking the shit out of room mics wiht distressors is the greatest pleasure! So far I didn't really like Peluso P12, but I might not have enough of playaround with it. TC finalizer is nono. TLA stuff hasn't worked out for me so far either.

NS10M's: absurdly underwhelming and required more printing of mixes than any other monitors I've used. Yet they were industry standard for years...I made bird feeders outta mine after purposely blowing them up with a bridged 4 Bryston, felt way better after.

Dude if people are dogging on distressors they haven't used them correctly. Thats insane! And the Avalon stuff is majorly overpriced. Then again, I tend to agree most stuff is.
