we need thumb screws for 500 series modules!!!

a thumb screw for the API 500 series format is in dire need!!!

something like the screws on the Randall MTS modules. they don't have to lock in place when not racked like the Randall (the 500 racks wouldn't support that anyway), but i'm tired of getting out the philips head when i need to swap a 500 series module.

hey Peter, or Nathan, you listening?

heck it may even help sales by encouraging folks to buy more modules than they have spaces for, since swapping would be made much easier.

Try McMaster-Carr.

It's a standard thread, (though I don't remember what it is offhand), probably shouldn't be too hard to find.

I tend to agree, although it's not a big deal. How much do you switch them around?

well last week i was testing a module for a manufacturer in my lunchbox. but also trying to track drums that day with all 6 pre's.

i swapped them at least 4 times that day.

i really liked the module i was testing, and can see myself owning one once its out of beta testing. But i'm not wanting to buy another rack just for a 7th module. Nor do i want to get a larger rack (I'm not a fan of external power supplies).

I dunno, i guess i'll take a screw over to ACE hardware tomorrow and see if they can match it with a thumbable end. It would be very handy (can i get a rimshot for that pun?).

You can also try www.grainger.com. Click on FASTENERS, then SCREWS, then THUMBSCREWS, and then you probably want KNURLED WITH SHOULDER type.

Adam, the obvious and only slutty thing to do is to buy more 500 rack space.

Here, buy this!

(shameless, self-serving plug.......)

Quick release and in snazzy complementary colors!

Seriously, thumb screws would be a nice touch.

Hi Adam,

You know we supply "Thumb Screws" on our P-1 and EM Series for easy install and un-install.
I believe they are 4/40s but take a look at what we have........I think the black thumb screws would be too large and the ones on the P-1 might work???

We don't make the racks so I think that would be something the rack manufactures might want to look into?

Try "True Value Hardware" stores Adam.

If you have the time take one off ours and see it it will work and let me know and I'll send you out some okay?

Great Idea!!! I would prefer a "Quick Release" type of thing myself like I have on my bike

unfortunately the P1 screws are the same size as the EM screws.

you know, Peter, my desire for quick swapping 500 series modules is all your fault.
that danged EM-PEQ prototype is indeed the 7th module. . .
(tracking's done, time to mix... okay kid, swap those white modules with the red knobs with these EQ modules..)

These plastic heads from Shear-loc are kinda cool too. They press onto socket head cap screws and come in a few different colours. I know McMaster-Carr carries them, probably a few other retailers as well.
