Passeq - first impressions

It's big! 4U. Solid.

To give it a try, I just put the Passeq on the 2 bus during a mix session and fiddled around with it - WOW - very smooth and round, very musical.

Instantly it brought life to that mix. I kept those two red knobs "IN".
Quite quickly I could get all kinds of different colors to the mix. Fun to listen to the interaction of cut & boost in similar bands. With it's 72 filters it provides a huge palette to work with. But with all the inspiring options one might get easily in the situation when to be forced to make a decision which way to go.
Supply and demand...

I find it pretty hard to get bad results - even with fairly large amounts of boost the Passeq doesn't sound ugly. Maybe a setting might be too much, but it won't sound "pluggy" . Didn't try to make it scream though. Not yet...

The thing has plenty of gain - I guess the Lundahls are the first to "work" on the signal when driven too hard; but maybe that's wanted sometimes. BTW the Lundahls can't be bypassed - they are part of the game.

On a drum/bass sub I got a nice compact punch and got rid of some nasty cymbal highs plus adding some top-end. I really like what happens in the low-end. Choose 10, 15, 18, 26, 40 Hz ...

Worked great with the OCL-2. Still have to hook it up with the 1176s.

Also tried it in a tracking session on vocals (UM92/Valvet -> Germanium -> Passeq -> ADC1).

I'll keep it!

More to come...

The real question is how do you say "Passeq"?

Is it:
"pass-eck"?
"pass-e-cue"?
"pass-eek"?
"pah-sique"?
"pass-a-cue"?

That aside, I'd love to try it out.

I didn't add it yet to my rack, but heard from several reliable sources only great comments about Passeq. And price point around 4k is right.
My purchase resistance threshold is getting lower...
More user's insights are welcome, especially comparisons with some established heavy weighters.

Should be labeled: "Akta! Varning! För mycket diskant kan skada hörseln"

(Be aware! Warning! To much high frequencies might harm your ears)

I am honored.

The midgets are in the catapult -- should I aim for your house, or for the studio?
