NHT M-20's rock

Just got them a couple of days ago and just in time at the start of a week of overdubs and mixing. All I can say is that I couldn't be happier. This might sound weird but they're "fun" to work on. I don't know how to explain it any better. They're the first monitors I've used where I love to crank it up! No fatigue. They're just easy as hell to mix on. Depth, imaging, detail. It's all there. And it's still all there when I get home and listen to ruffs. I'm pumped. This is the best gear decision I think I've ever made.

I have them as well and have been using them for about 2 months now. I really like them and I never feel too blasted after listening to them for a while. NHT is a good company to deal with and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I am still amazed on the low end translation that these things have.

M-20's with the B-20 stereo sub kit here. I just got them a couple of months ago as well and I'm making my first record with them right now and starting another in morning. So far, translation is amazing... My S3A's are sitting in the corner kinda dusty... Once I get some more speaker stands I'll probably set both up so I can A/B between them. I like the NHT's more so far as just my main monitors though, that's for sure.

What does the sub run for the M-20's? Isn't it like $2k? I thought about it but I've been mixing primarily without a sub for about a year now and digging it. Occasionally I'll flip onto the big Genelecs b'c they have a sub but not often. I really don't like listening to mixes on them b/c they continuosly fooled me for about 3 months before I said the hell with 'em. The M-20's seem to go deep anyway. How much do you think the sub helps out?

not even... I got the M-20's with the sub kit for $2500. Not sure what each are individually though...

who is selling NHT m-20's here in the USA?

Anybody???

I might as well try them out.

I've been thinking barefoot mm27 - 8040s w/sub - p33 w/sub but I would like to give these NHTs a shot now too. Especially since I can't find a pair of the barefoots to listen to anywhere in the 5 burroughs of NYC.

You can buy direct. Checkout NHTPro.com and call Don. They were running a really awesome deal on them when I purchased mine last week.

I have had my NHT M-20 pair since last summer and I finally got around to racking (trying to rack anyway)the power amps. They don't fit in any standard rack!!!!!!!! I had the amps stacked on the desk beside the computer monitor and wanted more space so I tried to rack them and no dice. I can only fit two rack screws in the opposing corners of each amp. The mount holes are round and not oval like every other gear company and I sure don't feel like taking the faceplates off and pay to have them machined to fit properly.

The amps won't even come close to fitting in an SKB rack I have. Actually nothing fits properly in that shitty SKB rack, not even my 6-space Averill 500 series unit.

Anyone else have problems rack mounting the NHT M-20 amps?

colin, my amp for the sub racked fine and then I just stacked the other two on top and since my amp is at an angle, I dont' really have any problems. It seems like they would rack up though, they slide right in perfectly.

Hey guys, did you buy direct from NHT? I'm thinking about getting some of these and can't for the life of me find out where to get 'em!

Have you contacted Vintage King? I believe there is a studio in NYC where you can hear them.

try the Pro Audio Direct link. Don Bassey has left, but there's got to be someone there who can take your order...

Good luck,
John

I just responded to darkwaters post in so much gear..... and mentioned getting in touch with Don. I bought my M20's last summer so that is the last contact I had with him. I believe they still sell direct as that is how I bought mine.

Thanks. A.B. I'm using isolating plastic washers underneath and the holes have such a tight tolerance on the amp faceplates they don't mount worth a shit. I'll yank out the iso washers underneath and see what happens.

That SKB p.o.s. on the other hand is useless. I tried mounting the amps in there with no washers and they still didn't fit. dfegad SKB
