Best Place To Repair 550A's

Hi Guys!

Where's the best place to send in my API 550A's for repair? I think they need to be re-capped or ??? One was getting thin then.....gone. The other is OK, but of the same era. I'd like to get both of them re-furbished. Where's a good place and how much am I looking at spending? Thanks!

Bill

Have you tried contacting API?

Doh! :-) Of course I could send them there. I was wondering if there was somewhere in So Cal that could do the job. Any thoughts?

Get in touch with Ray at API tech - super nice guy and they always have a very quick turnaround. You might as well go to the source!

We service them too, have the schematics, knowledge, parts including 2520's, and a nifty test jig. 818-843-7981.

I like to repair them in the kitchen... that's the best place other than API's service center I've found for repair... but as always, YMMV.

Peace.

David - thanks for the info. Unfortunately I got it too late, but I'll put you into my database.

As for API service - IMO it sucks. I've called 4 times and left a couple of messages over the last week or so and have not got a call back. Not a good way to do business in my opinion. I'd hate to have an API console go down......

I ended up getting ahold of Mark at Brent Averill Enterprises and I brought them in in the morning and he had them done by the afternoon. For $75 each he recapped them and cleaned out all the switches & pots and brought 'em back to life!

Great service from BAE!!
