How similar is the Germ 500 series vs TG Channel

If I have the TG Channel will a Germ pre be redundant?

I Have both tg and germ here. They are different flavours.

Never compared them directly with same source and mic but imo the germ stuff is a bit more beefy, thick sounding. All the chandler stuff is very robust in terms of signal though. I think the tg is a better all around pre but the germ has a great sound as well.

They are pretty different.

Other than being made by the same manufacturer, they don't share much in common.
