James had one for a year or so, back in 2009, IIRC.

FWIW, he's long since parted with it (details here).

Meanwhile, they are a stunning mic, and every inch a U47. Well worth contacting Gunter to see if he is still keeping a waiting list.

Last I heard, he wasn't making the 47w model anymore. I can't confirm this though. When last I inquired from a friend, I was told other designs were possibly in the works. I'm sorry if this is vague. For what its Worth, I've been using a consecutive pair quite a bit in the last couple years and they're amazing. I tracked Nicholas Phan's vocals on his latest CD "Still Falls The Rain" with a Wagner U47w.

Andreas Grosser helped design this so it has to be great. Andreas also helped redesign the power supply for the wagner u47 mic. I have a Wagner U47 but if I needed another one I would probably go for this. Ive only had good experiences with both vox-o-rama and Andreas Grosser

Gunther makes them, but in very limited number, from time to time.
IMO the best 47, if you can get it.
I have two and tried dozen of vintage U47 side by side.
Search is definitely over with Wagner, when U47 is in question.

Agree... I've bought and arranged a few for clients when they were first around.

Seriously it's the end of the search for the 'Holy Grail'
