Audio Converter Shootout?

A while ago I stumbled across an outrageously detailed and in-depth converter shootout here on Gearslutz. They were ranking many converters using graphs etc, and listing the converts in order of accuracy. It seemed like a very useful reference to refer to when buying a new converter, but I can't seem to find it anywhere..

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It got locked due to arguing and going off topic.

Not only was it locked, it was fully deleted by the mods. Read all about it here: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/forum...st-thread.html

The tests used a methodology that was/is hotly disputed in terms of its validity.

Ranking would be easy, based on popularity. Validity would be the more difficult thing to measure

If by 'hotly disputed' you mean that a couple of trolls set up camp there and succeeded in their baiting game to the point that the thread was utterly derailed, then yes, I guess so.

Perhaps. On the other hand, I did not see evidence of wide acceptance of the test methodology from industry experts.
