Soundelux E49 Owners: About The Shockmount

Hi Folks,

I'm a happy Soundelux E49 owner.

I've long tried to find a replacement shockmount. The stock mic clip is not a proper shockmount (nor, it must be said, does using it leave me feeling confident).

I've reached out to vintagemics.com to determine availability of their Neumann M49 & Neumann M50 yokemount and never heard back:

VintageMicrophone.com > Yokemount for M50/M49 microphones

I've also tried reaching out to Enhanced Audio to inquire about the availability of their M600-XXL. I own an M600 and love it. I needed a replacement part, and David Browne was just fantastic. To date (after close to a year), no response.

My question is: has anyone found a shockmount that accommodates an E49?

LOVE the soundelux mics. Despise the shockmounts. went through 3 or 4 variations of the 195 mount due to the screw stripping out. when testing/seeing a new mic I'm always judging the shockmount upon first look.

I have Soundelux E49s serial numbers 1 and 2... I use the Blue M49 yokes with them, they look the same as in your link... A tight fit but work fine, rubber grommets will lightly mark the mic body.

How cool! Thanks for the lead. Drag about the marking, though. I just saw this, too (which looks like a lower cost version):

Peluso MT49/50 Yoke Mount for Neumann M49, M50 M249, M250 M149, M150 at FrontEndAudio.com

My preference if for the Enhanced Audio mount (it would be more flexible, and lord are they well built). Their website is till up, but I wonder if they are still in business.

Check out the Rycote InVision USM-VB. I have one that I use for all my extra large mics, and 2 of the standard sized USM's that I use for everything from u87s down to km84s. They are strong, secure and the silicone pads are about as non-marking as you can get. And at only about $120, you can't go wrong.

Wow the rycote looks cool, will have to check my e49 dims. Re the peluso mount, they are the same as the blue. David Bock has a new mount for his on development m50 style mic, but is $$$$

I believe the width of the mic is 76mm. Wonder if Dave Bock would offer any kind of deal to e49 owners?

That mic has the same diameter as an M49. SO P&P in Germany does make the ultimate spider mount for that mic. It will cost you, both time, money, and phone calls, but it's the best real solution I've found so far.
FWIW I'm only partially surprised peluso copied the rubber foot design of the Blue mount. Why do I not like the rubber foot idea? Because it leave marks on the mic, unlike felt. Granted, good felt is hard to find, but not impossible. I still have the felt on my U67 SM, how old is that, forty, fifty years?

Thanks for chiming in, David! The last thing I want to do is mar such a beautiful microphone. I did a search for "P&P Germany" and was pretty much lost. Any guidance (URLS or numbers) you can PM me is most appreciated.

E49 #008 here.

I also should have mentioned before that I use mine with the supplied clip with no problems or worries. It seems pretty solid to me and cradles the mic nicely.

I'd love to have a yoke mount for it so I could hang it too.
