| Dangerous 2 Buss is SUMMING!!!
I'd say for sure the dangeous 2 Buss is the closest to the SSL center section. It is very clean and transparent, modern sounding, for lack of a better description. I just went from a Dangerous 2 Buss to an SSL, so I think I can safely make the comparison. I thought about other summers, but each had distince imprints, which can be great. But for example, if I wanted a Neve sound, I'd track with 1073, etc, I guess I wanted more flexibility. With that said, SSL has a "sound" as well, it just seems to me (opinion) here, it is a bit more open to what you put it... the "SSL sound" is really the 2 buss compressiona nd VCA paths... funny, used to be the complaint about 'em! ![]() -a DIRTY HALO www.dirtyhalo.com |

Get (or build yourself) a passive summing device. Then try to find some SSL modules suitable for make-up gain duties. Then add the SSL mixbuss comp to the chain. That might give some of that flavour, especially the comp, but it won't sound like you did the whole mix on a 4000. Only a 4000 can help you with that. |

I think there have been a couple of posts here about SSL doing one themselves - might be worth a bit of digging...

I wonder why they haven't done this yet. I guess either a 24 in box with a buss comp a la G+ or maybe something for their X rack. I would like to see something |

The "SSL sound" is the summation of your audio running through all of its components and you compensating for all the changes. It is just not one thing. Thats part of the reason if you pull one component(lets say the G compressor) it sounds different than in the console. So if you want the "SSL sound" by an SSL console. |
