Allen and Heath Xone XD-53 or KRK KNS 8400?

Hi currently have the allen and heath xone xd-53's however they've warn out, the padding is all done on them and quite frankly I am ready for a new pair, whether it be the same or something completely different.

I've got a pair of krk monitors rp8's and a rp10 sub. Great combo for the most part when doing studio work or just for even cranking tunes.

I'm looking for a solid pair of monitor headphones that have a really full dynamic range to them. crisp high/mid and good lows still. I just want some really great studio style monitoring headphones. preferably comfy as well. The krk kns 8400 appear to be very comfy from the reviews i read, the xone xd-53 from my experience aren't the comfiest. rather they hurt my ears after a while.

I also lay down on my side to watch tv shows etc.. with them, so they're not only for my mixing/music listening pleasure, but rather for pretty much everything.

the price range I'm not worried about, I work hard for my money but when i buy something i prefer it be of the best quality or near best. the xone's I grabbed before for $140 b-stock. my price range I would say is $140-500 if I had to set some sort of limit. again I'm looking for quality.

the thing I liked about the xone's is the range, they go from 5hz to 33000. I noticed the KRK's only do 5hz to 23kHz. I'm told that range in essence isnt everything to look for on speakers/monitors. But that does seem like quite a cut back in range?

if anyone with some real good knowledge of monitors/speakers/headphones could throw in some advice and anyone with experience with high end headphones that would be appreciated.

any other model recommendations would be appreciated as well if you think something else would fit me better or produce a better monitor style headphone.

Considering you probably can't hear anything above 17khz, 33khz is basically just marketing lit. Try the Shure SRH840s for better bass than the KRKs. I use the 840s for tracking but my favorite overall are my K 702s. German Maestro also makes some well-rounded models under $300.

You would probably get more responses to this in the other forums - neither of those are really high end headphones.
