Distressor vs. Little Devil 500 Comp vs. 1176 -- Discuss!

I keep limited gear on hand due to limited music work these days ("retired" into a corporate job like a fuddyduddy) but have a hard-on for another compressor as a new project approaches. I'll list what I currently have below. I'd like something to use as (1) a second comp in the chain with the CL1B, when needed; (2) a second option for some good/different sonic color instead of the CL1B (no transparency desired here); (3) something to stare at while I try to convince myself I still am in control of my own purchasing decisions after a few years of marriage.

Currently use:
- PT HD2 7.X on a G5 with 96io and UAD-1 (no way to justify an upgrade financially--does the job fine enough for me)
- Tube Tech CL 1B
- Lunchbox with Great River 500 pre, API 512c, Great River Harrison 32 EQ

I had a Distressor but sold it to get engaged a number of moons ago. I was using it too aggressively and needed to part with it for something simpler that I couldn't screw up. Now I think I have the self-control to use it gracefully. Please share your thoughts, including any 1176-like boxes (Purple, Slate, etc.); I went corporate and haven't touched any gear for years, so my memories are fading. Also don't have enough spare time for a shootout at the moment, so hoping to just pull the trigger and be happy with it. Great River gear has always been like a little blue pill for me, and I hear the Devil has some good color options, but I have never touched one.

1176 is very easy to use if you are just getting back into it. And is a studio staple for a reason.

Look at the Retro 176. You want color and attitude?
