Stupid question but i will ask about neve and avedis

Now I know I will get blasted for asking such a dumbass question but what would be more beneficial sonically that is - an AVEDIS MA5 mic pre for vocals (also running a Neve 1073 EQ in the signal chain) OR a Neve 1073 Mic Pre to replace the AVEDIS? I love AVEDIS but I'd prefer to have my signal chain as so

NEVE 1073LB MIC PRE > NEVE 1073LB EQ > WUNDER CM 7 MIC

WATCHA THINK GUYS? and yes i know mic pre's are all unique one isn't necessary better than the other one i am just asking if you were me would you go to a Neve Mic Pre or stick with the AVEDIS MA5?

You are seriously in need of taking a break from gearslutz.

First you want a helios. Then you want a 1073eq cause someone posted that in your other thread. You say you love the MA5 but now want a 1073 pre... Not cause youve used it, heard it or liked it... But because someone posted that.

You need to learn 2 things-

1. Its not the gear, its the engineer (at the level gear you are asking about)

2. The internet is the worst place to decide what sounds good.

You say the E27 is your holy grail but you have never heard/used one in your space. You say you want your chain to be with things you have never used or heard (the 1073s 500 series).

I read your threads and they make my head hurt.

You are lost in the internet. Turn off your web browser and make music. Its just not sensible whatsoever anymore.

Not really illogical advice...but, I have to worry about someone who can quote another's threads for content and context...they could be spending a wee too much time here also. But if everyone took the advice literally about turning off the "browser and make some music", I am afraid we might only have 50 or 60 folks perusing the forums here. That could cause a chain reaction resulting in Jules and a few others seeing their jobs evaporate. Then the sponsors would start pulling their spots....Oh My...!!! This could be a nightmare unfolding. In this economy, we need to keep everyone working.

There is nothing wrong with alligator tweaking his workspace to fine tune his sound. However, I would point out that if alligator just got a few of the pieces in his studio to actually try out, it could dramatically cut the "flailing around in uncertainty time". Good luck, alligator.

I wasn't being flip...just sincere. If it was for me, and my choice was between the Ma5 and the lb, I would get them in my private lab and put 'em head to head and the one I liked least would go back to the store for someone else to enjoy. It not "rocket science". Good luck.
