What are you sidechaining???

What are you using as sidechain triggers these days, and which instruments' compressors are they triggering?

You're not against sidechaining, are you? If so, why?

Do you think Sidechained compression has a place in rock music, or do you only think it makes sense in pop, dance and hip-hop and RnB?

Sometimes I sidechain a 40-80Hz tone on a kick drum track gate to trigger the tone when the kick hits for extra oomph. Sometimes I will make a de-esser with a sidechain, but now I usually have access to a dedicated de-esser plug in or a hardware unit.

A gate on under snare mic channel (to cut down on rustling noise in between hits..)

A guitar sub group compressor (making it duck a little each kick drum hit, my "Sex Pistols" trick)

A gate on Bass gtr to make it pluse like a sequencer (on one songs middle 8) side chain triggered by a click track cowbell, playing 16th notes...

I almost always duck the bassline with the kick in the sidechain. Also other sounds like chords and pads can soud cool if the duck in time with the beat.
