Sorry, My first message was empty

I have been recording with analogue tape, and sometimes with Metric Halo 2882.

In the first moment, I was thinking to step to MH LIO 8. I have a mixer Studer 189, and I don´t need pres. After several subjective listening, I thought than 8x192 Mytek could be better for me because the sound. Metric Halo ULN 8 is a high end sound, very impressive sound, and Mytek is warmer and lovely sound, better for my workmusic. Of course, I couldn´t try it.

I know Metric Halo LIO run well in my Mac Book Pro, snow leopard, intel core duo, because I have been working with MIO software and MH 2882. But I see Mytek 8x192 is only a converter. Then I don´t know if I need an extra card, or I have enough with my mixer and Mytek. I don´t know too if I can use MH 2882 beside Mytek 192.

Can someone help me?

thanks.

there are several IO cards for the Mytek 8x192, you could hook it up via an adat DIO-card on your 2882. for example... or get the FW DIO... or both... multiple options here...

no, the stock mytek 8x192 has db25 connectors for line in/out and aes in/out... it has 2 slots for DIO cards. you can choose from: pro tools DIO, FW DIO, ADAT DIO, USB DIO and Madi DIO... you need to purchase these cards separately.

Mytek Digital 8x192 Series AD/DA - Thomann Cyberstore Espa

Is this pack enough for mixer+mytek+macbook pro?

What about software, is is friendly with snow leopard, internal routing?

I work with Pro Tools 9 HD, I suppose it will be better for me firewire card than Pro tools card?

the software is more like a control panel for settings - there's NO mixer for zero latency foldback mixes. mytek works on one, but I guess it's not been released so far. that's why lot of users use it via ADAT and let other devices' software do the monitoring mix. I don't know how friendly it is with mac OS and PT, win7 and other DAWs here. but if you just use it as a converter, I'd go with the ADAT DIO in connection with your MH 2882...

The Mytek can be the interface aswell, with the choice of several DIO cards as mentioned above, which would be installed inside the Mytek unit.

Each converter design can have a slightly different latency, so if youre using both converters simultaneously to record, or to feed a mixer; you may run into the headache of having to offset the latency of those channels that are running off the secondary interface.

IME your best bet is to stick with the same brand and model if they are being used together like that.
