Brauner Valvet X vs Brauner VMX C - listen

It's not a scientific test by any means. Different sessions, different days, but in a clumsy way maybe enough to give you a flavour.

Any thoughts anyone? Shall we keep the Valvet X or the VMX C?

Ha ha, you've gotten yourself in trouble here! I would really try these two mics directly next to each other and make sure that you find the best proximity for each to get the best results. Once both are working at their respective max, make the comparison again. Right now both sound very pro, but I could imagine one would work better than the other if properly used.

The valvet sounds richer with less highs, but the vmx c sounds zippy and clear.

If it's just for spoken word, I'd say the vmx. If any singing is in the equation maybe the valvet x.

Yes, I hear what you're saying and as a matter of fact, I was on the fence for that very reason. Especially since it's a female spoken voice. But for zippy and clear I think of the VM1. Somehow I feel the VMX can't make up its mind if that makes sense.
Disclaimer: I'm a male singer. Plus I own the Valvet X. So I'm biased.
