DA quality of Lynx Aurora vs. Dangerous Music D-Box

Hi all,

Anyone ever AB'ed the DA section of these two units? I'm considering the D-Box once again.

Thanks.

In our internal testing done here, the D-Box would edge it out concerning a dedicated DA converter.

I did a really quick A/B when I got my D-Box and found it noticeably better than the Aurora (ie didn't have to go A/B/A/B... it was nearly an instant decision that I preferred the D-Box)

Thanks.

What about D-Box vs ST? Major sound quality difference? Keep in mind that my set-up NEVER goes beyond two sets of monitors, I can live with two headphone outputs (on the occasion where there are three musicians that need to have headphones, I can live with splitting one of them), I will not be doing surround anytime soon. Though I do like to be able to listen to just one speaker at a time, listen in mono, and such.

The ST model does not have a DA converter, but it does have the same analog path as D-Box according to Bob @ Dangerous. Our tests also confirm either model performs virtually the same in the analog domain.

The new Dangerous Source, with or without the rack kit, might be an option too and does have conversion (using newer Burr Brown DA converters, and utilizing USB interfacing).

I love my D-Box. They ST can have a DA added for extra money.. I would think it's the same as the D-Box but I don't know that.
