Tell me why I would trust someone who has an LFAC, and even a studio but no proven track record, over him? This is more of a general statement and not directed at you so don't take it personally. What I mean is, I could throw a rock and hit any number of trust fund hipsters with a studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn who have LFACs and Studer Tape decks because it's the hip thing to have, yet they can't mix their way out of a wet paper bag and have no track record or even minor hits to speak of.
All things being equal, and all costs being equal, I'd always pick Tom Durak ITB. Even if he's more expensive than somebody with a Studio, LFAC and no track record, I'd still trust him ITB.
If it comes down to two mixers, both with track records but one OTB and one ITB, I'll go with the one who has the better track record in regards to the material I want mixed. Gear never comes into the equation. I'm paying for their talent.

Frank | Ja......well, we are not talking about track records or you, however your commentary would only make sense since youre trying to turn this thread into a "you" thread, if you have previously and personally hired a "proven" engineer like say CLA or MW and had a superior "result" ITB over a LFAC mix. Which I can "personally" guarantee the ITB mix will loose. Period end of story!
David Ben ....thanks Alexa.
Did we mention Michael Brauer?

Plenty of talented mixing engineers right here using SSLs.
My friend Michael White, who ran Whitney's studio for years mixed on SSLs, and was also a rep for them for a while.
Now he's mostly teaching, writing books, etc.
I don't know if Flood is still working (producing/mixing) on SSLs.
. | Thanks for the compliment Sqye! I'm mixing on an AWS though.

Skidd Mills did the Saving Abel and 12 Stones records on a 4K at The Sound Kitchen. There is a second 4k at the Sound Kitchen as well, and I can only guess that Dan Huff has mixed on it. The A studio desk there is a Neve. Some of you guys might be able to deduce who used those 4ks a lot. I would think that John and Dino Elefante would have mixed on one of the 4ks at some point through the years they owned the kitchen. I wonder if John is mostly ITB now days.
