Anybody want to lay out my racks?

I guess there's a bagillion ways to lay out racks, and that's the problem. I just can't decide how to do it. So I defer to you.
I want to have a semi portable system where I can take my laptop and one rack to remote gigs. I don't want to have to unplug a S-load of cables to be portable. And I don't want to buy any Elco Multi pins. I want to use what I've got.

So here's what I've got;
One 8 space rack
One 10 space rack
One RME Fireface
One RME TDIF-1
One SCA 2 RU preamp
Two 1 RU channel strips
One 1RU 48 pt patch bay
Two 1RU Compressors (doesn't need to be portable)
One Rane HC-6 Headphone amp (doesn't need to be portable)
2RU Guitar recording pre (doesn't need to be portable)
One 1RU multi FX processor (doesn't need to be portable)

I'd like to stack the 8 space on top of the 10 space rack.
Anybody wanna take a stab at it?

Mike,

I have an HP zd8000 laptop and a fireface that I keep in a mobile rig for recording and DJing. I have 2 SKB X-racks. They have their drawbacks, but are lightweight and very durable, making them perfect for lugging around. My first rack i use for gigging or mixing sessions, consists of a Furman RP8-L powerconditioner on top, with a Presonus central station under that, followed by my fireface. The bottom space is empty because the fireface runs pretty hot.

my second skb x-rack is a six space i use for location tracking sessions and consists of my preamps and compressors. having my gear in two separate cases allows me to only take what i need to each job.

It sucks ass having to repatch my preamp/compressor rig everytime i take my rig out, but what can you do.

In your situation, i would keep the mobile stuff in the 8 space, and the stationary stuff in the 10 space. When you separate the two rigs, you're gonna have to do some repatching, but that's the nature of being mobile.
