Singing praises for the Miktek C5

Just got two Miktek C5's to stereo mic acoustic instruments and I'm blown away all over again. These things are really gold with acoustic guitars. Not nearly as bright as the KM184 or AKG451 and more body and detail than the Josephson offering. I'm throwing down a guitar part on a song tonight. Maybe I'll post a clip from it. I really don't think I'm even gonna need to eq.

Miktek CV5

Agreed! On acoustic guitars - I end up using that more than my vintage km84 many times.

Are you comparing them to the Josephson C42?

John, you got to track down some Gefell M300s in Nashville and throw them in the mix too.

I don't doubt there might be "better" sounding small condensers on the market, but none that combine this quality with this price point. You can get a matched pair of C5's for the price of one M300.

THANKS,

Agreed, these mics or great on many different things, and I prefer over KM184 and may other currently available and more expensive mics. I have 1 C5, and plan to add a stereo pair very soon. Three of them seem to be a perfect number for my own studio set-up needs. Hands down a killer value from a great new microphone manufacturer.

Here's a raw file of an acoustic - one C5 going into a Heritage 1073 the other into a Studio Projects VTB-1 (don't laugh it works)...

There are big changes with positioning, especially with the Heritage on the body (VTB on neck), but I thought this sounded pretty good. Totally unprocessed.
