Help Me Design a Studio

I have the amazing chance to build a studio from the ground up...I pretty much have a blank slate I do have an acoustatician who will design the room and help me build it, but I'd like to get other opinions and advice before I even meet with him. And I'm sure you Slutz have more than enough opinions and advice for me!

If you were in my position...what would you want?

Gear is already taken care of...I have a Trident Series 80, Radar 24, PT HD, and a growing rack of slutiness.

I need a control room, a studio, an iso booth, and maybe a drum booth. This will be situated next to or behind the stage of a large church auditorium. We will track live music from the auditorium and in the studio itself, and will mix as well.

Isolation is a key because the building around me gets very noisy...especially when tracking live music events. Would double walls be helpful? Do I need double sheetrock if I have double walls? Is a floating floor necessary? What kind of insulation would be best?

What are your ideal dimensions for a control room?

Is a completely isolated iso booth really necessary? Or is it good enough to be mostly isolated?

Would you guys even bother with echo chambers? I know Bob Clearmountain uses his.

We're still in the planning stages, but I have to know what to ask for before it ever goes to the architect. When it comes time I'll put up a bunch of pictures...I love the studio building threads!

Thanks!

Your acoustician should be able to help you out with that. If you'd like to see a simple but professional control room design, see my article from EQ magazine that's now on my company's web site (link below, find the Acoustic Articles list). There are many other related articles there I'm sure you'll find useful.
