Barefoot MM35 vs Klein + Hummel O300

Just curious if anyone's had the opportunity to use both of these? I can't find many opinions comparing the two, and would be curious to hear the experiences from user's that have actually had the opportunity.

Mainly interested in opinions comparing the O300 to the MM35, not the MM27.

Use the O300 in various mix rooms work and the Mm35 at home. The barefoots blow them out of the water. It's not to say you couldn't track or mix in the K&H. To my ears the Barefoots sound more neutral and balanced. Mid is more focused. Everyone hears things differently. You have to audition them in your current space. That's the only way to truly know if a speaker will work for you.

Opposite experience here, couldn't justify BF as upgrade over K+H300, more as matter of taste and personal preference issue. Blowing out of water happens in minds of some gears owners from time to time.

Ok. Blowing them out of the water was a little dramatic. ???? I should say they're both very capable monitors. Just down to personal taste.

I'm familiar with both. Both are excellent. I have a slight preference for the O300 (esp when paired with a couple of O800s), but can happily work with the MM35.

I have the MM35s and a buddy had the o300s for a short time. I did a fair bit of listening -different studios etc but I didn't get along with the o300s. I love the MM35s. Its all personal.

And what may the advantages/disadvantages of both monitors be, when compared to each other?

allow me to make myself totally unpopular, but 7000 pounds for speaker that at best goes down to 40hz, if that, is beyond insane, bonkers, loco!

didn't like the K+H when loud...

Barefoots was cool but...

the PSI Audio (21's, 215 or 25's) could maybe be interesting for you? For my taste, they were the clear winner against all mentioned speakers in this thread so far.

Exactly, and they also have major SPL issues at higher SPL without subs (Very well known) Sure for many they okay, but for many they are not.

I'd second testing the PSI's, prefer them over the other two.

.

Many great speakers - without subs - have issues with high SPLs.

The problem is obvious - so why wouldn't you want a sub?

I would check out the new gen 2 version of the Barefoots. I predict they are going to be even more popular and raved about than their 1st gen counterparts.

The new MM12's are amazing...and the tweeter is a big step up

Haven't heard the 0300, but I didn't like the 0400 at all compared to the MM27.

Also - if you want a mixing speaker, nothing compares to the Spiral Groove Studio Ones. One mix on them and you'll never want to mix with another speaker again..

300s are no longer made. They've been replaced by the just now shipping KH 0310 which go lower, and are louder.

And that's exactly what we should be looking at. They focused on the problems with the 300 with the lack of SPL and low end and I believe it looks like they fixed them on the 0310, need to test them.

they fixed it allright... but hopefully not at the cost of any of the qualities of the o300

this is not the right thread but if anyone knows a direct comparison report??? (i haven't seen one yet)

Considering this thread:

I own o300's and will be receiving the mm35's (gen1 occasion). I'll post my findings right here as soon as I get them and stacked them on the o300's :D

I'm holding on to my 0300 pair for the time being in order to facilitate a comparison to the 310s. The 0300s are fine speakers, but the extended lows and extra spl will come in handy. The midrange is reportedly improved also.
