any sound quality differences between 1:1 digital to digital connection...

i have built in spdif digital in/out on my pc. i am thinking of turning my pc into a sound module and connecting it to my DAW via spdif.

i would like to know, is there any sound quality differences between different brands of digital ins/outs. i understand there is no conversion process like it is when connecting via ana-dig and vice versa and this is simply dig-dig but im wondering whether eg. like lavry or hammer digital out is equal to a sound blaster digital out or maybe any of those cheaper cards with digital outs. like do cheaper digital ins/outs produce greater error or s/n ratio or less dynamic range... or something.

in this sceneraio, what would be the weakest link.
ivory -> pretty good fast pc with built in digi in/out -> pt 888 -> logic
i will be using quality cables.
