AMS RMX 16

I have a Lexicon 480 shaped hole in my life..

Most studios I worked in (here in the UK) never seemed to have them.. odd I know.. but true. Sure the occcaisional PCM70 or PCM 60 but not many of those 'big boys'....

I've been digging my new Plate-Sonics plate.

The TC M3000 is my favorite 'verb box.

TC6000....but more realistically, the PCM-91

(ive only played with a used TC6000 and it was mind boggling)

love 'em. springs are amazing, old ones can be had dirt cheap, and they add instant old school vibe and mojo to a production. if you want less 'sproing' you can smooth them out by inserting a delay on the send.

not all spring verbs are created equal, and some are lush as plates, if a bit less smooth on the decay. still way deeper than any plug, though.

Hey Tony

Can you tell us more about the Plate-Sonics unit? How much was it to ship? Which one did you get? Any samples? What all comes with the kit (the site is a little vague on that) is it plug an play?

Thanks.

OLD PCM 70 is so classic.

Newer Lex's are fine too but the old rev 7 yam is good for stuff that just shouts mullet rock. "You left me with a frozen hart will I ever be the same" Splat dug dug duga dug duga dug. DO Kaaah do Kaaah. Awsome dudes.

...though not for reverb or ambience. It's my favorite hardware reverb for "infinite room" sampling. There's something about the ease with which it captures & loops signals, & the character that it imparts to those signals, that makes it like a musical instrument in its own right. Indespensible for sound design work and musique concrete.
