Best soundcard/interface for $2000?

Hi,

This is probably in the wrong section? however I figured this is where I would get the best advice.

I have £1000 ($2000 roughly) to spend on a new soundcard/interface, I currently have an Mbox 1 which I intend to just to use on the move. I am using a powermac G5 (firewire 800) & a Macbook Pro 15" (firewire 400) and rarely use more than 15 tracks in Logic pro 7.2/Pro Tools LE and the maximum inputs I would need is 8 maybe 10 at a push.

I just want the best sound quality with a half decent mic pre if possible? I have looked at the RME 800 so far but would be gratefull for your opinions.

Thanks in advance for your help/guidance

For the money the fireface is your best bet. It has been a blessing in my studio since I upgraded to it.
