Can't really go wrong with 1176 or distressor.

+1 and I'd add a RND 5043 Portico to this as well. Easily as flexible as a dsitressor but a diff tone and stereo too!

Tube tech CL1b, manley Elop,Daking Fet, sometimes you can find a Trakker used. personally while I like my distressor, I don't care for it on vocals.

just because: dbx 160x. not that versatile, but will certainly handle tracking duties on the things you listed.

Depending on what you're after... 1176, or a Summit TLA50 or even better 100, or the upcoming BAE 10DC will be in your budget and I'm pretty sure it will be fantastic (since designed by Avedis and manufactured by BAE)..at least will be worth trying it out IMO..

Well the LA-2A and API 2500 are great. I like the API's features. But those are a little over your price range. I've never used the Daking FET, but I've heard good things about it.

Same here, didn't keep my distressor or Trakker - Trakker was actually a fantastic tracking compressor, but almost too many options to tinker with - I listen now to older tracks with the Cranesong chain and they sound great (yes at one time I had Flamingo, Trakker and IBIS).

My search for a tracking compressor ended with the Airfield Liminator.

Send a message via AIM to JBlongz
UAD Apollo lets you use UAD plugins for tracking before it even hits the DAW.
