What's even funnier is that from the photos it looks like a mono 1/4" deck -- not a 1" 4-track [which, at least in my twisted mind, would be a "real" Beatles machine... though I guess they could have been doing final mixes to a 1/4" mono deck].

How much for a (circa 1964) swatch of Paul's hair?

The J37 is the only true 'Beatles' machine. Abbey Rd prefered Telefunken machines for mixdowns. Trident had C37's.

funny. I know this guy (he is in Switzerland).

according to my understanding is, that this machine is out of the Studer-museum (they closed it, after Harmann fired the last employee from the tech-floor).

so it was practically for free (there has been an auction to an exclusive list of invited people).

The J37 was thee Beetless machine...
But, it's got the same (mono) trackwidth, and
same input/output amps...

But that's about it...
Will it work with the CLASP?

Best,
Tom

that is what i am thinking too.
my tech is repairing 2 C-37’s right now that are 1 inch 4 track.
i see them all the time at his shop and this one does not look like a 1 inch machine to me.............

Tom,

Yes, the C 37 and J 37 both work beautifully with CLASP. Lenny Kravitz uses his J 37 which is one of the two originals The Beatles used to record Sgt. Pepper With one of his CLASP systems as well as a C 37.

Here is a link CLASP COMPATIBLE TAPE MACHINES
