No tape (PT HD4), but recently gone hybrid with a lot of stuff that isn't on our site yet - Manley/Neve/UA/Avalon/Dangerous etc. Contact me through the details on our web site if you'd like to find out more - www.thelimehouse.com

Why do you need tape?

I dumped my tape machines long ago.... every client who said they wanted it did not want to pay the price it cost to use it.

If you do not want to pay for a 12 hour session, it seems logical you will not want to pay what it costs to upkeep for a good tape machine.

Have a look at Urchin Studios, they're pretty small and low-key, but they have a good CV. Urchin Studios - London Recording Studio

What kind of project? I have an all analogue/tape set-up (V72's, U67, akg and Coles mics, EMT, etc) but the space isn't very big.

For tape tracking I'd recommend A+B2 (A820), the Garden (A80) or Sofa Sound (A820).

Though I used CLASP with the 16 track A80 up in Motor museum the other week, and it was immense....once you got the hang of the weird plugins/track ordering, it worked flawlessly.

Outboard at both of those is great. Many of the other studios have tape machines in situ as well.

PM me if you need any more technical details/studio advice based on project requirements - I know them all very well.

Worked at Kore for a short session in November. Impressive outboard, very nice mics, good sounding rooms, great sounding control room, superb vibe and assistance (Hi Al!) and competitive rates. Very mucho recommended.

Not just ben hillier's kit, there's a another producer/studio owner who's name escapes me for now who's also thrown his gear in there....lots of old neve channels and so on!

One main room, one large booth, one amp cupboard...and if you book it for a week or more, the control room can be relocated into the live room, to give you an extra booth and "headphones off" working with the band.

Not my preferred way, but some love it!

Tape is also possible in there, but requires a bit of setup...fine if you're doing a longer session, but not so feasible if it's just a day or two.
