Nice, thanks...

That Horch RM2J is really a great mic. I preffered it in all the applications, only on vocals was the U47 better and something special, but I didn't like this particular U47 for spoken word on any of the voices compared to some other mics there.

Horch RM2J and Neumann M149 seemed the most versatile and best sounding on different sources, closely followed by Brauner VMA.

My preference on most spoken word voices was Horch RM2J, Neumann M149, Brauner VMA, AKG414, U47. AKG didn't work equally well as others on the bass voice - missed the lowed register somehow.

U47 was special on vocals, but the others were IMO better for the spoken word.

Merci Kidbill !!!

fantastic !!!!

I really love the RM 3 for females ( reminds me the low end of my 367 ORTF Neumann ) and it's very warm !! needless to add that the GML 2020 used for recording the vocal samples is awesome too !!!

I liked the U47 sound a lot! especially on the soft female "vocals 2", sounds classic!
Rm2J sounds well balanced
Didn't liked much the m149, a little gritty/nasal (when a/b'ed)
Nice amount of details on the Vma but no balls like others

Remy, I had a M367 (sold here) and it was great! I miss it often. Very nice tone!

Hi Kidbill

( je suis français ) but for everyone here i think that the 367 ORTF called M 269 in the US is nothing but stellar !!! I use it with my DRS 2 Phoenix audio and it is hands down .

To Kidbill : j'ai eu la chance de rencontrer Jean Michel Mallet un homme archi calé sur les Neumann et il les répare aussi , il m'a dit que le 367 était l'un des meilleurs ( devant le U 47 ) nottamment

+1!!!

The RM2J was very very nice indeed.. I also liked the VMA, different sounding...less fat and more detailed..also very nice..
On the vocal parts I didn't like the 149 too much, but on the spoken word was nice and very versatile.

To Rémy: ah oui le M367 est superbe! mais je ne dirais pas qu'il est meilleur qu'un U47, chaque micro à un son particulier et je pense qu'un bon U47 sonnerait mieux qu'un M367 sur certaines sources/certains contextes!

Yes KIDBILL I agree with you , but i am definitely in love with the sound of the 367

the last time I saw M . Mallet was in Paris with a friend of mine and he took some little schoepsfrom him but modified to get a bigger sound ( according to him )

and step by step we talked about legendary mics from the U 47 /67 Elam , M367 you name it , and M. Mallet was also absolutely " sold " to the ortf 367 :-) was nice to hear him with his words of wisdom !!!

to Aileka : Hi Man Audio addict's members are everywhere as i can see

My other mics that i love ( I mean what i could call the new legends ) : Bock 507 , but my 2 favs are the R3 Horch and the Korby Blue ( fantastic ) I plan to get a NPNG as preamp ( along with my DRS 2) and a fearn VT 1

Along the Bock 507, you should add the Josephson C-700A or the stereo version C-700S. Fantastic microphone!
Another amazing thing, the Samar ribbon mic.

Absolutely !! the 716 is a jewel , and the 617's coupled with a Lachapell 992 eg to record ac guitars is a sonic bliss!!!

In my opinion, this test reveals very little possibility of microphones. Nevertheless, I can safely say that both AKG microphones are not suitable for soft singing and vocal narration. Horch mics are not bad on the soft singing. For commercial, story and romantic voices M149 was the best. For all test participants. On vocals 1 and 2, the U47 is only mic.. And I marveled at how to change my impression of U47 in the test: an absolute aversion to the announcer's voice, and a complete delight on vocals!

By the way, I want to tell everyone who will listen to this test: Be sure to download the files and make sure that all audio fragments were similarly phased. Neumann U47 Files, for example, are in antiphase with respect to the Horsch 2J . Because of this, the perception of sound microphone is strongly distorted. Neumann U47 seems too muddy in most cases. However, when I correctly phased all audio fragments, I have a full picture of the menilas perception. I advise everyone to do well and write about their feelings!

Yes, the link is dead.

I don't no why, but maybe they got annoyance with the other manufacturers because of the test?
Do not forget, this test was on a distribution site.
