right off the bat, which one would you choose ? mostly for singing vocals, and husky rap vocals like something drake would use to sing and rap on ? im going through a EMU 1616M ( old school ) prefered not to use protools all the time. using a tube preamp by blue robbie. which one is more bang for your buck ? |

that Mitek CV4 sounds great for singing vox on everything I've heard... hard to beat in that price range IMVHO. Not sure how it stacks up for husky rap vox I've never heard them through the mic.

I have a um17 and love it! Big sounding, well balanced, not sibilant.

The UM17 is brand new so it's hard to find opinions of. However it's simply the newest revision of the circuit Oliver designed as the telefunken USA AK47. So you could work from there.

i use the CV4 primarily for male hip hop vocals and i've never heard anything i like quite as much. in fact, i was recording a client recently with a cadence and timbre very similar to that of drake and he sounded fantastic through the CV4. it has an unmistakably big and thick character.

I own three of the four mics the op mentioned - they couldn't sound more different from each other. Rent each one, find your favorite, buy it.
