Lenny Kravitz and his productions...

Ok.... Ive just been going thorugh my old Lenny stuff (like when he did not suck big balls!) and have dug some of his tones.

I really think he nailed the 70's production aesthetic..( like he should have with all that freakin gear he's got and the gear that is in Henry Hirsh's 'Waterfront' studios. He even has the damn Sgt Pepper's EMI console form abbey road)

I think he made some of the most 'Analogue' sounding records of th e90's and made a real niche' for him and was shocked when he split to PT..... which was when eh started to suck but im not refering to the switch as being th emain catalyst in that reasoning.. i think he began to beleive all his own bullshit!

So lets hear your thoughts on tones, songs, how much of ****** he is?, production values, howmuch u love or hate him.. let it ripp!!

PEACE

i really liked lennys older tunes ...
it had a nice kinda atmosphere . it was basically simple and rough . his last two records are kinda boring imho . if you listen to those records in one shot you´ll go
dont know what happened to him , maybe he lost his balls

he should realize that there are people who liked him a lot in fact of his music . not just for the fact that hes soooooo " pretty " .

are u getting horny if you watch kravitz

the thing i didn't get was his desire for the old stuff on the first couple of records, then his Pro Tools, copy paste crap on the next.

The Let Love Rule album was cool...good songs. The second one was my favorite one, with its darker vibe, atmosphere, lots of echo and hiss and slowed-down tape thang. After that, I got off the train and didn't listen to albums 3 and 4. "5" seemed pretty well-produced, but his swapping tape for PT just took the soul out of it for me.

Until......... I want to cut and paste......I want to cutttttt and paste...yeah ey yeah eeyeahhhhh. The audio files list had:

Yeah #1
Yeah #2
longer yeah
57 Yeah
U47 Yeah

Ok lenny this time we will paste the 57 yeah into the chorus to make it different. "Ahhhh I see that is much easier"! "Do you want me to record a few more" ? Nah we have enough to paste for this song.

The last album from him that I liked was I think Circus. The one with "Rock & roll is dead" on it. Something about Lenny doing the copy & paste thing just kinda bugs me.

All you need to make a record is a mic, some tape and maybe some bad reverb...
