Mic and tube pre repair in LA

Different problems but I still need to have them fixed.

The tube pre is an ampex mixer. I forget the model but it's the Buddy Holly mixer. My amp guy worked on it once and it was okay for about a month and then one channel stopped working. The other continued for quite awhile. Now I can hear the ocean when it's on. My amp guy is busy building amps.

The mic is a different issue. It's a grundig that is supposedly a Sennheiser 409 repackaged in a different casing and sold as a stereo pair. I have several and the one that is my favorite dynamic mic in the world took a fall in a freak accident. I was bummed to find out that it now sounds like an AM radio. All the bass is gone. I'm kind of hoping that it's a mechanical issue like deteriorated foam wedgded against the element or something. It's not fuzzy or noisy it just has very little bass. It produces about the same amount of level as before. I would open it myself but there is no obvious way to do it. I would rather let someone who would be less of a pioneer than myself.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks, wm
