Can Big Ben convert sample rate in real time?

Can a Big Ben convert sample rates in real time?

Meaning, if I had an apogee ad-8000se(48khz), could I use the big ben to convert real time to 96khz?

Thanks.

Also, I'm still trying to decide on what to do about converters.

I think you are stuck in marketing land. You have no need for the Big Ben if you only run one converter. A good converter has a better clock circuit inside than it can recreate from that external "magic" BB.

Simply get a converter. The ones you have mentioned are pretty good and can be used for serious recordings. Make sure to update the rest of your recording chain (the room acoustics for example) before going ahead.

My two cents.

Yeah my recording chain is pretty solid in my opinion. This is what I got right now:

Pre:
Sebatron 4000e
Sebatron maximus
Api 3124
ua 2-610
grace 201
rnp

Other Outboard:
Sebatron Thorax
drawmer 1968
distressors
la2a
lilfreq
folcrom
rnc

Good mics, Good Room, Good Monitors, Nice computer, great instruments

Now you see my dilemma is that I have a bunch of great gear, in my opinion. But I have been using fireface converters.

My stuff sounds good. But my converters are definately the weakest link in my chain.

Supposedly the big ben can help out the older apogee stuff. I don't want to shell out $6000+ for converters at this point. I guess I need to though to get to the next level. This is just my home setup, I do a large %age of tracking here. I also work in a studio with Digi Hardware. I thought about going HD, but then again I don't wanna go Digi in my house. I like the 192 converters. I'm not a stickler or anything for gear. I have made great sounds with digi hardware but at this point I don't want to spend the dollars.

I always walk my head into a conundrum everytime I think about converters, that's why I have stuck with the motu for so long. Basically because of indecision.
