Connecting DAW out to SSL VHD mic pre, avoid frying output stage

Hi everyone,

I have set up my Symphony I/O output to go to my SSL X-Rack VHD mic pre's inputs to be able to colour my line level sources with the drive it provides. So far everything's good, but here's my dilema...

I guess the pre will fry my Symphony's output stage if I (or someone else) accidentaly engages the +48v. Is there a fool proof way to avoid this from happening? Suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi
A decent transformer would provide isolation but good ones would be very expensive.
A pair of capacitors wired in series with the signal would retain practically all the quality and provide isolation.
If you don't need 48 Volts on during this work you could pull it's fuse out in the supply, but that would be a bit tedious.

Ah, there you said something....

I've got two Radial JDI (I think they are) laying around somewhere. Could I use them in the cable chain to protect my audio interface from 48V?
