A Sytek steal...

Ok, I'm going to hate whoever picks this up (I really want it, but cannot afford it at the immediate moment)...

******//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2557763619

$789.00 - Below dealer cost, WITH Burr Browns on channel 3/4, and straight from Sytek.

e-cue, I know you like these guys...could you possibly offer a generalized comparison between other pre's?

Bleh...let me reiterate how much I'm going to hate whoever grabs this.

I used to have one- Theyre all right- not great though. I'd say $800 is about right....

The closest thing I can compare them to outside of the Neotek line (think Neotek on Steroids) is the API's. They have more gain than the api's, enough so that they can accommodate Ribbon mic's. The inputs aren't perfectly cal'ed so what is 12' o clock on one channel might be louder or softer on another channel. They are awesome on drums. Channels 3/4 (BB moded) sound great on horns, and have a solid state sound on vocals. Very defined. They aren't perfect on everything, but if you are doing live bands, I consider them very useful.

They are massively slept on Pre's and well worth double the price IMO. Especially being a 4 channel unit, which practically puts it in the Behringer price range.

wait for the next auction. I've seen this for quite a few months... it's direct from Mike so it should be really cool.

I'm thinking of getting one soon....

I have on for sale with 2 channels stock, 2 channels Brown Burr in excellent condition for $675.00. I bought it from Mike at Sytek. I bought a Neotek Elite II from Mike so I no longer need the pres.
