Radar transfer question

I have a Radar project on DVD-Ram (cartridge type) and need it restored and transferred to PT, OMF, or AAF.

If you can do this, or know a facility that can, please send me a message.

TIA.

Regards,

MM

Sounds like you have it on a Type II DVD. You can contact iz corporation and they could tell you someone maybe close by, or I use Glenn at www.Gat3.com who transfers my Radar files to my firewire drive for Protools editing. They are in Charlotte and have excellent coverters.

I just realized you're in Maine, not Oregon.

You might want to try the FTP option.

It's a little tricky to set up in the first place, but once it's done, it's a breeze to bring files onto your 'puter.

I don't think he has a RADAR, just the ram disc.

Indeed, no Radar, just a ram disk.

Thanks for the replies all.

Dana at the Church Studios in Pittsburgh ( The Church • Recording Studio ) has a RADAR setup and several other formats, and could probably transfer or convert it for you.

Why on earth are converters relevant? Surely a radar transfer is digital-digital?

What you do is pull the audio into a Radar 24 system (and maybe other older systems?) and convert (export) all the tracks as BWAV files and burn them to a DVD-R disc (one DVD-R per song). Then you can pull the BWAVs into a folder of your choice on your desk top and then drag the individual tracks / BWAVs into ProTools, Dig Performer, whatever.

I've done this hundreds of times because I like to record into my Radar system and then sometimes process the BWAVs in DP with Waves and UAD plugs. Then I burn the processed tracks as BWAVs and transfer them back into Radar because I like to mix from it thru an analog console.

You don't have use discs, just use your network and FTP on your computer; just drag & drop the files form the radar to your computer hard drive of choice.

Right but he won't be able to do that, unless some one can post the BWAVs to an FTP site for him. But Thanx for the recommendation. I usually burn the discs as a hard copy back up. Kill 2 Byrdz so to speak...

I realize that it's been a good month and a half since your original posting but if you are still looking to get a RADAR transfer done, we can do it for you here at Dreamhire.
