Hey I always wanted to ask you about Slave to the Grind. I remember reading in an old Guitar mag (can't rember which one) that most of the guitars where recorded using mini speaker boxes that where blowing up all the time. Was that true and if so how did you come to try it and any details you remember on the experience. I remeber playing that till the tape stretched, great album.

They msut mean the monitors I had at the time. I was using a set of Infinity 2001 speakers. They are 30W speakers and I used them with my favourite Bedini poweramp, which has 500W a side. So naturally sometimes when I wasn't careful I blew up the drivers in those little guys. I had a whole stack of the drivers for replacement sitting around. I'm not using the Infinity's anymore (discontinued) and ended up using one of the drivers for the homemade "subkick" contraption, works well.

The interview was with Rachel and Snake I think and they talked about using mini cabs or "speaker cubes" if I remember right. Sounded like they ran power amps into little 10w boxes. God it was so long ago and my primary concern was learning the song not how it was made (I sometimes miss those days ). Might have been my overreactive mind coming back to haunt me. Can't wait for this project to pan out. Huge fan of the Skids and your work. Thanks for keeping Guitar Rock alive and thump'n.

The mic on your camera (but Lynn already said it), as I remember some clips with that band you recorded awhile ago (Big Star / Back in Black cover)
If that doesn't count, an AKG c414 BULS

Talking

EV 666? If that's not a metal mic, what is?

I too played the Slave tape until it stretched. Then I bought the vinyl! Loved the slave single in the black rubber sleeve!!

The suspense is killing me.

Michael, have you nothing better to do than answer this question for us?

Making records? It's way overrated. We're the ones that need you. Here. Now.
