Yeah, primarily looking for anything to:

a) minimize cymbals (hi-hat&ride) from entering snare mic(s)
b) allow me to preserve my snare mic placement for tone, rather than rejection/null points

Wood, foam, strip of an old blanket to hold it all together. Foam slid onto an old mic boom arm.

I know for sure that the bottom mic is an SM7b. The top looks like an AKG, but don't quote me on that.

Here's a photo of Mike Mangini's kit from a while back.

Can't remember if it was for a Mullmuzzler/James Labrie album or a Annihilator album.

Why do you use 2 Audix oh mics if they are pointed to the same spot = mono?

Hey Matti, thanks for asking .

Actually they're on XY config. , admittedly on a narrow stereo position . Anyways , you're right that looking at that pic , the view angle might lead one to think they're mirroring the same spot , but they're not . Also , keep on mind that the SCX-25 are narrower on their cardio. pattern , almost sub cardio.

;-)

BTW , I wish I could post some files but I'm not allowed to since they've not released their album yet . Hold on as soon as everything is done I'll post their myspace link and you'll be able to do it though .

It was kindda crapy room regarding acoustics , but I think I could manage to take the best from it .

EVery new session we learn something and recording drums is always amazing !
We don't really relax cuz it's a lot of work .

cheers !

anyways , i think because of the lack of acoustic treatment i think i will have to shape my overheads with a transient designer . I'm thinking about buying UAD's SPL plug ...
Have you guys ever used'em?
